This year’s Annual Peacebuilding Training was the most diverse in terms of countries represented. Participants, facilitators and secretariat members came from 30 countries from Asia-Pacific, Africa, Central America, Europe, the Middle East and North America. One hundred seven participants, 21 facilitators, and 16 secretariat volunteers and staff participated in this most auspicious event.

A melting pot of people and ideas; a safe space for learning and reflection; an oasis where one is refreshed and can recharge; a dynamic process of transformation and change; a living, thriving community of peacebuilders. These were just some of the words that described the individual and collective experience of those involved during the 2017 Annual Peacebuilding Training of the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute.

This report provides an overview of all the activities and events that took place during the three-week training from May 16 to June 3, 2016. Here, you will read some of the reflections, insights and the collective experiences of those who were with us during the 2016 Annual Peacebuilding Training.

From the introduction:

Davao City, Philippines. Once more, the bustling city of Davao witnessed the gathering of 118 participants, 22 facilitators and 14 secretariat volunteers and staff from 25 countries, from all walks of life who came together to attend and participate in the once-a-year training of the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute Foundation, Inc. (MPI).

The 15th Annual Peacebuilding Training held from May 12-30, 2014, proved to be an intensive training that explored major themes and cutting-edge debates on conflict transformation, peace education, and interfaith dialogue, among others. Various members of international and local non-government organizations, civil society, interfaith institutions, academe, government agencies, students and volunteers participated so that they would not only develop their skills and acquire new knowledge, but also build bridges of friendship and solidarity, all of which works towards the goal of peace.

The 14th Annual Peacebuilding Training of the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute (MPI) marked another year of high hopes and optimism. The annual peacebuilding training again was a sacred place where people of diverse backgrounds and faiths freely shared their ideas, questions, and aspirations and through these exchanges were transformed and inspired to continue their peacebuilding journey.
