Rev.Dr. C.P.Anto the founder and director of Peace Channel, an emerging secular youth peace movement that aims at the transformation of the individuals and groups as peace lovers, peacemakers, and peace promoters in the conflict situations said that the movement had trained nearly twenty NEISSRians who completed MSW in our institute in peace studies have been trained and capacitated to introduce the new chapters in all the districts to empower the children, youth and adult to be the promoters of peace and trainers of peace in all conflict situations. They are also given some seed money to start its branches officially in all the districts of Nagaland and in the days to come in the region and the country gradually by forming the peace clubs among the children, peer mediation forums among the youth in the colleges and universities and Peace Forums among the adults ie., professionals, educationists, and religious and community leaders who will be capacitated on different peace skills to prevent and intervene in the conflict situations.
Since it is a movement, its benefits should be experienced by all even in the villages of our state Nagaland. He also encouraged the participants to adapt and promote SDG goals and be part of the global movement of education for peace and comes forward to create a major transformation from a culture of violence to a culture of peace by using an inclusive approach without any discrimination on the basis of tribe, caste, class, region, and religion, etc., believing that we all belong to one single family. As he was briefing about the movement’s achievements he said that since its inception in 2006 in Nagaland, Peace Channel has been working in close connection with individuals and groups in different sections of the society. Inorder to achieve Peace Channel’s Mission 2030 i.e. “To make Nagaland a peaceful state in India” it has taken a new approach in implementing Peace activities in Educational and Communities in different Districts of Nagaland by training the teachers and community leaders as peacebuilders by enhancing their skills in peacebuilding techniques and conflict resolution. The movement has trained as of now over 1.5 lacks children, 1850 teachers, and 770 community and religious leaders and that is our strength and the new approach to development should begin from its strength. In view of making all of our mission 2030 a reality, he requested all the government departments, educational institutions, churches, and communities to cooperate and collaborate to achieve the mission and we keep training and capacitating the children, youth, and others to bring down all forms of conflicts in the families, educational institutions and communities and enable all to live in peace and happiness always following Bhutan or Finland whose happiness and peace index is very high. Thus we also trained nearly twenty qualified NEISSRians to be the training of Trainers for peacebuilding and they completed 8 days of workshop on the 17th February 2021 in Peace Channel Conference hall, Dimapur, Nagaland.
Mr.Kishor Das, Ms.Garrol Lotha, Ms. Gugu Vitono Haralu, Mr.Medhi Hussain, and Mr. Ng. Alan Paul were the resource persons for the workshop who stressed different topics on the concept of the organization, peace education, peacebuilding, strategic planning, conflict resolution skills, etc.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory function where the participants were being awarded the certificate which was felicitated by Rev. Fr. John Lasutho Poji, Vice Principal, North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR).
