MPI Welcomes United Board Scholars for the 2019 Annual Peacebuilding Training

The Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute Foundation, Inc. (MPI), is pleased to announce that we will be welcoming eleven scholars to our 2019 Annual Peacebuilding Training through a Non-Degree Faculty Enrichment Grant from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.

This is the fifth year in a row that MPI has welcomed United Board scholars to its Annual Peacebuilding Training. Recipients for this year’s training hail from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. The scholarship allows these educators to participate in all three weeks of the Annual Peacebuilding Training.

Each year, the United Board scholars write a reflection about what they learned during MPI’s Annual Peacebuilding Training. We have highlighted some of our past scholars on our website’s alumni pages. We are looking forward to hearing how this year’s scholars plan to use what they have learned as well.

MPI and the United Board have been strengthening their relationship over the past few years. Most recently, the MPI team met with representatives from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia to discuss a future learning tour of their trustees. These trustees will be visiting Mindanao soon after the Annual Peacebuilding Training, and MPI will have an opportunity to interact with them when they visit.

We are very grateful to the United Board for sponsoring these grants for faculty from their network of institutes of higher education and especially for promoting skills development in peacebuilding and conflict transformation among these women and men. We know that they have and will continue to integrate peacebuilding and conflict transformation into their own curriculum and pedagogy.
